A cultural relics exhibition of items from The Palace Museum showcases the history and economics of Xinjiang during the Qing dynasty. The exhibits were opened on Monday in Urumqi's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Museum. And for the first time, local people are able to appreciate exhibits from Beijing's Palace Museum without traveling.
The Palace Museum has transported around 100 exhibits to the Xinjiang Museum. The carefully selected pieces aim to tell part of the region's history in topics ranging from wars to economics.
The painting on the right depicts the time when the Qing first began to rule the region. Through this piece, museum visitors can learn something about the nature of battle during that period. In fact, every piece at the exhibition opens a window into the past.

Shan Jixiang, president of Palace Museum, said, "The exhibition showcases every cultural relic in a logic way. Every exhibit tells about history. Every exhibit makes sense and they all connect with each other. This collaboration is a start. We will have more collaborations, and try our best to provide cultural feasts for the ethnic people of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region ."
This is the first time for The Place Museum to collaborate with the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Museum. And it's also the first time for most of these exhibits to meet the public.
The exhibition wraps up in May and is open freely to the public.
