Mapping Ming China’s Maritime World – The Selden Map and Other Treasures from the University of Oxford

21 March - 23 June 2014
This exhibition presents the early 17th century maritime heritage of the Ming Dynasty, including unique collections from the Oxford University’s Boldeian Libraries. Among the items on display are the Selden Map of China and the manuscript, Shun Feng Xiang Song (also known as Laud Rutter.)
Most of the objects are displayed to the public in Hong Kong for the first time.  It is a unique opportunity to experience these extraordinary tools and resources from ancient mariners.
This exhibition is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Maritime Museum and Oxford University’s Bodleian Libraries.

This resource guide shows the publication and journal articles about Chinese cartography. The information is available at the CSSC Maritime Heritage Resource Centre of the Museum for readers.
