Rock painted with suspected Tocharian characters found in Xinjiang

The photo's shows a rock painted with characters which are suspected as those in the ancient Tocharian languages. The rock was discovered in Hami prefecture, Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region recently. Tocharian is an extinct branch of the Indo-European language family. The name is taken from the people known to the Greeks as the Tocharians. [Photo: China News Service/ Peng Xingli]
