One of the 12 Southern Inspection Tour scrolls sold in September by Sotheby's

Sotheby’s New York will host two auctions as part of the fall 2016 Sotheby’s Asia Week.

Roy and Marilyn Papp formed one of the best private collections of Chinese paintings in the United States and the magnificent Southern Inspection Tour scroll is the highlight of Sotheby’s single-owner sale of their collection on 14 September. Created following a decree by the Kangxi Emperor in 1689, the scroll is part of a series of 12 that document the extravagance of this Southern Inspection Tour. The vast majority of the scrolls now reside in institutional collections making this sale by Sotheby's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Click here to watch the Chinese version.
